Have been ordering from Las Tortugars For YEARS now. Since back when they used to be in the old location on Van Dyke. This is one the best authentic Mexican restaurants you can find Shelby Twp! My go to order is always the Al Pastor tacos, and they never cease to be amazing. Highly recommend.

Tried this place last weekend for my birthday with some friends and they were pretty busy on Saturday evening. We put our name on the list and didn't have to wait too long at all. Our server was very nice although it did seem like they could have used another server or two because it did take a while for her to come back some times. When we ordered drinks, I picked the ghost margarita but unfortunately they couldn't make that so I asked for a regular margarita with jalapenos which probably took another 10+ minutes to arrive. Our server said the bartender was being difficult which is unfortunate but our server was doing the best she could and was sweet throughout the dinner. I do wish the chips and salsa were complementary but we still ordered them and a side of queso and chorizo so we could mix it together and it was delicious. I would definitely recommend! We also tried the Nopales (grilled catcus, onions tomatoes with tortillas) and I would probably skip that the next time. The texture of the cactus just wasn't for me. My friends ordered the eletric margarita, which again I would highly recommend skipping if you don't like a sugary margarita where you can't even taste the tequila. It almost seemed like cool aid. They ended ordering the spicy margarita for their second drink like me, which was excellent, highly recommend just wish I could have tried the ghost one. For dinner we mostly got tacos and I really liked the asada and the al pastor. The al pastor was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. I would skip the fried fish next time, it was heavy on the batter and the coleslaw was just too much for me. My friend really liked his beef tongue taco my other friend really liked her tostada. I would definitely go back and avoid some things but definitely try some more tacos. We also got the rice and beans which were ok but I wish I would have got a 4th taco instead. Also since it was my birthday celebration they came out with a fried ice cream with a sparkler and were singing with maracas. It was super embarrassing but cool at the same time. The fried ice cream was really good and liked the coconut on it. Definitely check them out!

This place was cute and if I lived closer I would definitely be a regular. I only had chips and salsa (which are not free, they cost $4) and a margarita, but my husband had the elote and said it was good

Our good friend suggested that we do dindin here before going to see my cousin's concert. I'm extremely fond of places like these, so I was immediately excited when I found out. I got myself the the Nopales just because I've been on some kind of a plant based trip lately. If you're not about bitter vegetables, please stay clear because it's giving exactly that. I'd give it an 8.5 out of 10. The place was dope, the service very good and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a good Mexican joint. My husband also enjoyed his tacos btw. He had two meat tacos and a fish. So yea, there's that. Thank you so much for reading my review. I hope this helps with your decision making experience. Enjoy your awesome yelptastic day!!!
